Just as most of the snow from the last storm had melted, a winter storm moved across Long Island Thursday night and into Friday, dumping about a foot of new snow. more

Lawrence and Hewlett-Woodmere public schools, the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaways and the Lawrence Woodmere Academy announced that they would be closed on Friday, Feb. 26. more
Woodmere was one of the worst hit Long Island communities in terms of amount of snowfall in this near-blizzard storm. All Five Towns communities got hit really hard, and Thursday was a tough dig-out day. more
