Six men who graduated Hewlett High School between 1957 and 1979 will be inducted into the Hewlett-Woodmere Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame during the 19th annual ceremony on Sunday that begins at 11:30 a.m. with tours of the high school, a brunch at noon and then the induction.

Feeding the community for Thanksgiving

Among the many donations that were made by myriad Five Towns organizations and institutions to help feed people for Thanksgiving, the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence opened its doors for four hours on Nov. 21 and feed kids, teens and older adults a holiday meal.

North Woodmere resident Andrew Postman graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut in May, but instead of heading into the workforce like many of his peers the American studies and psychology major is applying his education to a couple of years as an English teacher for the Peace Corps in Namibia, an African nation in the southwest part of the continent.
