Toll collection will resume on the Atlantic Beach Bridge starting Monday. However, the bridge remains closed to non-residents of the barrier island.

Tolls will once again be collected on the Atlantic Beach Bridge beginning Monday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. after being suspended since Oct. 28 due to Hurricane Sandy to ease the evacuation of the barrier island. more

The Atlantic Beach Bridge, which helps first responders cut travel time to area hospitals, will undergo a nearly $9 million overhaul of its interior working parts.

Atlantic Bridge to be renovated

Within the next two months, the Atlantic Beach Bridge’s electrical and mechanical components will begin to be replaced. The upgrade is needed because those parts date back to 1945, when the Nassau County Bridge Authority took over the bridge’s operation from a privately held group. more
