Arrests NORTH WOODMERE-Tyrone A. Thompson, 47, of Far Rockaway, was arrested for shoplifting from the Kmart on Rockaway Boulevard at 11:10 a.m. on May 28, according to police. VALLEY STREAM- Robert Mardorf, 42, of Hewlett, was arrested for shoplifting from the Home Depot on Green Acres Road at 12:10 p.m. on May 30, authorities said. more

Police looking for alleged package thief

On Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 12:14 p.m., a man got out of the passenger seat of a gray four-door G35 Infiniti that was following a Fed Ex delivery truck and allegedly stole two packages of items valued at $765 from a home on Park Lane in Woodmere, police said. The man then got back into the Infiniti, which then left the scene. more

Nassau County police are hunting a man linked to 21 robberies, including ones in North Woodmere and Hewlett, in which he has a large knife and usually demands cash, has taken the cash drawer in some instances and in more recent thefts has taken money and cigarettes, according to police. more
