Veterans saluted at Inwood parade

Memorial Day was commemorated in Inwood as the annual parade formed at the Long Island Railroad train station and proceeded on Doughty Boulevard to the John Oliveri Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1582 headquarters by Mott Avenue and Doughty Boulevard.

Flipping pancakes and dreaming of a Kiwanis Christmas

Peninsula Kiwanis hosted its annual Dream Christmas Pancake Breakfast at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Inwood last Sunday.

More than $2,600 was raised to support Kamp Kiwanis and Camp Anchor through a barbecue sponsored by the Peninsula Kiwanis and hosted by member Bill Dubin at his home on July 29.

Beyond the doors of a house at 112 Wahl Ave. in Inwood there is an oasis of play and learning for young children that features a passionate manager, a backyard with a gazebo, trellis and a magnolia tree, and 54 youthful minds ready to soak up education.
