The battle for the 9th Senate District will be a rematch of incumbent State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) and Hewlett Harbor resident Christopher McGrath, who faced off a month ago in a special election for the seat vacated by Dean Skelos following his conviction on federal corruption charges. Kaminsky is completing Skelos’s unexpired two-year term.

The Lawrence School District aided by a $125,000 state grant with help from then Assemblyman Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) broke ground on a new playground last month for the elementary school students that now attend the Broadway campus at the middle school.
