Lawrence residents invited to attend event honoring disabled veterans at country club

The Lawrence Yacht and Country Club will hold its second annual event to honor disabled U.S. veterans on Sunday, Sept. 20. This year’s beneficiaries will include the Wounded Warrior Project, Folds of Honor, American Vet Dogs, The Soldiers Project and Boots on the Ground. more

This year’s Lawrence club’s day to honor military veterans was expanded to include four more military assistance organizations. Boosting the awareness of military help groups

After last year’s successful first-time fundraiser at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club raised more than $32,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, organizers of the Honor U.S. Veterans Day event expanded its scope and will include four more veteran organizations for this year’s Sept. 20 event to honor disabled veterans. more

Getting organized for Wounded Warrior Day

Organizing for the second annual Wounded Warrior Project Day at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club got off to a good start as about 30 people attended the April 29 meeting at the club to divvy up the work for coordinating the Sept. 20 event that will include a Sunday filled with golf, tennis, fishing, lunch, a cocktail honor and a formal dinner. more

Wounded Warriors Project hosts picnic

Members with the Wounded Warrior Project held their annual picnic in Eisenhower Park on Sept. 21. A local ambassador for the organization, Paul Hastings, accepted a $15,000 donation from the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association. “It was an awesome turnout,” said Hastings, “and it was a more than generous donation from the PBA.” more
