Three candidates are seeking the Democratic endorsement to run for the newly created 22nd Assembly District in the Sept. 13 primary. There is also a contested primary for the Working Families line. The winners will square off against Republican nominee Sean Wright in November.

According to new maps released by a redistricting task force and recently approved by the State Assembly and Senate, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Elmont and Franklin Square will become part of the new 22nd Assembly District, an area currently represented by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square), Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook) and Harvey Weisenberg (D-Long Beach).
