On Friday, millions of Americans will honor our veterans for their service in the armed forces. In a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, a wreath will be laid at the Tomb of the Unknowns, servicemen and women will be introduced and lauded, and dignitaries will speak of those who have selflessly served our country.

Korean War veteran Charles Weiland, 70, joined the army in 1958, when he was just 17 years old. He had completed high school and immediately joined the army, spending 13 months in South Korea, nine months in Texas and another nine months in North Carolina.
