Police searching for suspect after incident on Long Beach Road

Nassau County police are searching for a man who robbed a 7-Eleven in Oceanside on Tuesday night, after he threatened a store employee and demanded cash.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 15, at 9:55 p.m., when Fourth Squad detectives said a man entered the 7-Eleven at 3274 Long Beach Rd. and approached the store's cashier with his hands in his pockets. A customer was in the store as well, police said. The suspect demanded money from the cashier and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He fled south, on foot, on Long Beach Road.

Police said no one was injured during the incident. A detective in charge of the case was not immediately available for comment. A manager at 7-Eleven said that he could not comment and referred calls to the corporate office.

The suspect is described as a black male, five feet five inches tall, with long dreadlocks. According to police, he wore dark jeans and a black sweatshirt with the word Champion.
