Cars explode in Oceanside, Island Park

The Nassau County Police Department Arson and Bomb Squad are investigating a pair of recent car explosions in Oceanside and Island Park.

The first of the two minor explosions, each resulting in physical damage to a car, occurred on Feb. 8 at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Moore Avenue in Oceanside. A second explosion occurred on Feb. 12 at approximately 11:40 p.m., this time on Jefferson Avenue in Island Park.

Both cars sustained moderate damage, and no injuries were reported, according to police.

The Arson and Bomb Squad is investigating and exploring possible links between the two incidents, and asks that anyone with information on either incident call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
