Beatles' classics revisited at Tilles Center this weekend

Journey back to those heady days with the Fab Four with Classic Albums Live’s version of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Seventeen musicians – including a four-piece string section, a harpist and a sitar player – will deliver a completely faithful rendition of the classic psychedelic rock album, live, on stage – note for note, cut for cut. The second half of the evening is a surprise for the audience, as the band will play a range of Beatles favorites; the set list is decided during intermission.

A magical undersea adventure for kids of all ages awaits when John Tartaglia brings his one-of-a-kind black-light puppet show to Molloy College’s new Madison Theatre. Tartaglia – who starred in the acclaimed musical Avenue Q, appeared on Broadway in Shrek The Musical and in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and created and starred in the Playhouse Disney series “Johnny and the Sprites – has taken his creative talents in a new direction with this show. Tank, Bubbles and Dorsel are three best friends who just happen to be fish, and they’re about to set out on a remarkable journey of discovery. As they swim off in search of clues, they’ll sing, they’ll dance, and they’ll make new friends – including everyone in the audience.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

Irish Festival
Get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at Hofstra University’s 14th annual salute to all things Irish. You don’t have to be from the Old Country to join the hooley and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Irish style! Enjoy music and dance performances throughout the day, along with craft exhibits and sample Irish cuisine. This year’s festival features Stone Row, a five-member ensemble performing Celtic and world music with a contemporary edge, and the Black Velvet Band, along with the popular Hirten Family Irish Dancers, and Katie’s Puppets, among others.
