Building Homes for Heroes 5K Run/Walk planned

The 3rd annual Building Homes for Heroes 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday morning, April 18 at Hewlett Point Beach Park in Bay Park/East Rockaway. The race will begin at 9 a.m. sharp. Race day registration and check-in will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 8:30 a.m. Participants must arrive prior to 8:30 a.m. Online registration is also available at www.buildinghomesforheroes.org. Funds raised will go toward a new home for Army Sgt. Joel Tavera.

As for the event, it's a fun, community-based event for serious runners, casual runners, recreational walkers, families, organizations, etc. “In addition to the run/walk, we have outstanding raffle prizes, music and refreshments,” said Race Director Andrew McClure. “It's a great event for the entire family to partipate in, and an easy way to help build a home for a young veteran in dire need.” For more information, visit www.buildinghomesforheroes.org or call (516) 684-9220.
