Crime Watch - Oceanside, Island Park

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

n Frank Cipriani, 39, of Long Beach, was arrested and charged with shoplifting a GPS from Kohl’s, 3600 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on Aug. 28.

n Theresa McSpedon, 47, of Island Park, was arrested and charged with criminal contempt. According to detectives, McSpedon violated a stay-away order.

n Cutberto Zavaleta, 36, of Oceanside, was arrested and charged with assault. According to detectives, Zavaleta punched and kicked someone in the face and head, breaking their nose, after an argument.

Assault

n A victim was punched in the eye by an unknown man at Paddy McGee’s, 6 Waterview Road in Island Park, on Aug. 30.

Burglary

n An unknown man knocked on the side door of a home on Nassau Lane in Island Park and hit the owner in the head when he answered on Aug. 28. According to detectives, the suspect fled the scene in a black car.

Criminal mischief

n The driver’s-side front and rear tires were slashed on a 2002 Mitsubishi parked on Waterford Road in Island Park on Aug. 30.

n Orange paint balls damaged a 2005 Chevy parked on Brian Street in Oceanside on

Aug. 27.

Criminal tampering

n Videotape shows someone on Moore Avenue in Oceanside leaning over their neighbor’s fence and cutting the bushes on

the other side on Aug. 28.

DWI

n Louis Greco, 30, of East Rockaway, was arrested on Brower Avenue in Oceanside and charged with driving while intoxicated on Aug. 29. According to detectives, Greco refused a breath test after being involved in an accident.

Larceny

n A wallet and car stereo were taken from a 1995 Honda parked on Long Beach Road in Oceanside on Aug. 29.

n A cell phone and paperwork were taken from an unlocked car parked at Community National Bank, 3121 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on Aug. 28. According to detectives, the cell phone was recovered at a different location.

Robbery

n An unknown man wearing a mask pointed a gun at a victim and placed him in a choke hold and took his keys on Aug. 30. According to detectives, the victim lost consciousness, and the assailant took paperwork and prescription pills from the victim’s apartment on Hamilton Avenue in Island Park.

Drugs destroyed

n Marijuana plants were found growing in the backyard of a residence on Long Beach Road in Oceanside on Aug. 28. Detectives spoke with the owner and the plants were invoiced and destroyed.
