Island Park Civic Association gets in the Thanksgiving spirit

Continuing a three-year tradition, the Island Park Civic Association held its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Nov. 10 at the Local Ale House benefitting the Sacred Heart Church food pantry and the Long Beach Humane Society Kitty Cove.

“We wanted to give back to the community so we figured Thanksgiving was a good time to load up on our pantry at Sacred Heart,” IPCA board member Patti Ambrosia said, adding that contributions to Kitty Cove were added to the drive this year.

There was a $10 entry fee and residents were encouraged to bring food and cat supply donations. All told, the group raised $350 towards the purchasing of additional items.

“We had a very good turnout,” Ambrosia said. “And we did a lot of shopping for both establishments.

“We don’t’ make anything on it,” she continued. “We just do it for the community.”
