Overcast Island Park hit-and-run driver arrested

Corey Henson, 30, of Centereach, was arrested on July 12 for allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Island Park.

The Nassau County Police Department's Homicide Squad arrested Corey Henson, 31, of Edward Street, Centereach for allgedly leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run on July 11 in Island Park.
According to the police, at 9:07 p.m. Dodanim Emanuel Chavez, 30, of Island Park was struck by a vehicle allegedly diven by Henson travelling south on Long Beach Road, north of Marina Place. Henson allgedly did not stop.
Chavez suffered severe trauma, police said, and was taken to a local hosptial where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is continuing. Police ask request anyone with information regarding fatal hit-and-run to contact Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-8477. All calls are confidential.
