Pick Garrity for Oceanside BOE

To the Editor:

We strongly endorse Kim Garrity for re-election to the Oceanside school board on May 15. We have known Kim for 20 years, both in her capacity as a leading school board member and as a longtime active volunteer in our community. Kim was raised in Oceanside, attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School and chose to return here to raise her family.

Kim brings her business acumen, her lifetime knowledge of this district and her experience as a parent to the board, making her one of the most effective members we’ve had in the 30 years we’ve been involved in this community.

Kim is highly intelligent and perfectly balances the needs of the children with the realities facing us as taxpayers.

These are serious times which require serious people. At stake are the education of 6,000 children, the livelihoods of hundreds of employees, tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money and our property values. We need people who are prepared and who have shown they can do the job. Kim Garrity is the right person for Oceanside.

We hope our friends and neighbors will join us in voting for Kim on May 15.

Garrity is the right choice

To the Editor:

I have worked closely with Kim Garrity for the past 15 years, and I have great respect for her intelligence, leadership and commitment, which have benefited the Oceanside School District.

In this particularly challenging time for public education, it is imperative that Mrs. Garrity be re-elected to the Oceanside Board of Education on May 15. Her re-election is needed to ensure that the important qualities she possesses will continue to benefit our community.

Please join me in supporting Kim Garrity.

Support Garrity

To the Editor:

I am so pleased and honored to endorse Kim Grim Garrity for Oceanside School Board. She is an amazing woman, working tirelessly at everything she does. I have known Kim for seven years and have seen nothing but honesty and integrity when it comes to the Oceanside community.

Kim is a thinker and a doer, and that is what is needed on the school board. She cares deeply about her community. Working alongside her at various events, I’ve seen a compassionate leader, someone who does her homework then proceeds to work really hard at getting the right results. Her record speaks for itself.

Keep Oceanside strong when you vote at the polls on May 15. Vote for Kim Garrity!

Vote for Byrne in Island Park

To the Editor:

I am writing about my family’s enthusiastic support of Tara Byrne for Island Park School Board.

I first met Tara through our comings and going at Francis X Hegarty Elementary and her involvement on the PTA. She was so welcoming and inclusive of all. I don’t think you could find a person that doesn’t like and respect Tara. When she speaks to you, it is clear she puts her heart and soul in everything she does. She is so genuine and caring.

The other thing that stands out about Tara is that she is somebody who knows how to get things done. I have seen her bring together people from different areas of our community to unite for a common purpose. One of those things would be the “In Need” committee she started. Faculty, parents, students and different community organizations united to help those that need it. It was very special to my family and important for my kids to contribute and be connected to all the people that live here.

As a taxpayer, I feel confident that Tara has the skill set to manage our resources in a wise and prudent manner. I watched her grow and manage our PTA into a vibrant organization that did so much to enrich our children’s school lives and to do so with brilliant fund raising that put the “fun” in fund-raising.

We need Tara. She has what it takes and would be a breath of fresh air for our town. I already know that she considers and puts the needs of all residents first. She is an independent thinker and there would be no limits to what she could accomplish for our schools.

Tara brought the slogan “Together We are Better” to our district, and she has exemplified that in every way. Her children take after her and are also wonderful advocates for our community.

We are so lucky to have her. That is what we love about Tara. She is inclusive and her positive energy brings so many people together to work for a common good.
