Nassau County police arrested two Long Beach men on Tuesday after they allegedly robbed a woman and threatened her with a knife.

According to Fourth Precinct police, the incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. in Island Park, when a 21-year-old woman was walking home along Long Beach Road. At Arlington Walk Way, however, police said two men approached her. The pair displayed knives and demanded that she give them her purse.

Police said the men — 20-year-old Rakim Cole and 18-year-old Kaic Santos, both of Long Beach — allegedly took the pocketbook, which contained an undetermined amount of cash and left the alleyway.

According to police, Nassau County police officers and an MTA K-9 officer apprehended and arrested both suspects shortly after the incident. Police said that the woman was not injured and that the proceeds in her purse were recovered.

Cole was charged with first- and second-degree robbery and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. Santos was also charged with first- and second-degree robbery, and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, in addition to resisting arrest. Both defendants were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
