School 5 project sends books to Ethiopia

School #5’s Class of 2022 Project Extra sixth graders donated 16 hardcover editions of I Am Love by author Peter Reynolds and illustrator Susan Verde to the Limb Kind Foundation to deliver to children in Ethiopia.

The funds for the books came from the class of 2022’s national finalist prize winnings from the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. The students, who have since moved up to Oceanside Middle School, chose the donation to pay it forward and ordered the books late last spring.

The Limb Kind Foundation is an Oceanside based non-profit that provides prosthetic care to children in need in the United States and several developing countries. School #5 and Project Extra have had a long association with the foundation and its founder, Robert Schulman.

Project Extra has also partnered with Reynolds and Verde in the past.  Together the author and illustrator have produced several best-selling books in the I Am... series.
