School Three raises more than $20K with dance-fit classes

Oceanside School Three’s PTA ran a dance-fit dance-a-thon as a fundraiser and to inspire students to participate in the healthy activity and help support their school’s PTA, principal Beth Castiello promised the class that raised the highest amount could slime her.

Pledges poured in, not only from students and their immediate families but also from extended family across the Country and even from Europe.

“I thought that we would raise about $5,000,” said Castiello. Instead, they brought in almost $25K, which will be used to fund programs such as the school circus and educational assemblies. Castiello said that she plans to schedule a special event for the whole school that will take place in the spring.

Wendy Weinstein’s fourth graders got to dispense the slime was but staff got in on the act too. At the Nov. 22 morning Meeting, the entire school watched as Castiello humbly took her slime.
