The holiday spirit permeated the Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School in Island Park on Dec. 23 as the entire school participated in the first-ever HoHo Hegarty Holidays. The brainchild of Kindergarten Teacher Denise Benedetto and Music teacher Marie Sambolin, HoHo Hegarty Holidays began with kindergarten students singing holiday songs in the hallways. As they passed other classrooms, each class joined in the caroling. The school-wide parade culminated in the gymnasium, where the entire school sang songs and helped spread holiday cheer.
