Nassau County readies for blizzard

All Nassau County parks and outdoor ice rinks would close at 4 p.m. on Monday and re-open when the weather allows, announced County Executive Ed Mangano. All regularly scheduled county events on Monday evening and throughout Tuesday are cancelled, according to a county news release. The county aquatic center in East Meadow and rifle range in Uniondale are also slated to close at 4 p.m. The Nassau County Correctional Center will stop visiting hours from noon on Monday and to Thursday morning. more

The Ice Bucket Challenge is simple — film yourself dumping a pail of frigid water on your head, upload it social media, and challenge others to do the same within 24 hours or donate to the ALS Association.
