Charles Fuschillo Jr., center, and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, warned would-be drunk drivers that "the party's over" with Leandra's Law now in effect. The law was named for Leandra Rosado, Lenny's daughter, who died in an accident with a drunken driver last summer. Under the new statute, anyone who drives drunk with a child in the vehicle can be charged with a felony.

DWI with a child is now a felony

Most of us cannot understand what possesses a person to drive drunk. This paper’s position has long been that drinking and driving is potentially deadly behavior that can have the same result as opening fire with a gun in a crowded mall. DWI requires stiff penalties. more
