Long Island Rail Road riders traveling to Hunterspoint Ave. or Atlantic Terminal will be entitled to a fare reduction averaging 25 percent during Amtrak’s repair work, the Metropolitan Transit Authority announced Tuesday. The fare reduction will take effect July 10, and will end when Amtrak’s repair work at Penn Station has been completed.

A Suffolk County man who was struck by an eastbound train at the Lynbrook Long Island Rail Road station on July 27 underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition following the incident, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
