A man driving a 2005 Toyota Camry crashed into a tree at Ocean Avenue and Ruth Place in Lynbrook at about 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 7, injuring himself and his 3-year-old twins, a boy and a girl who were in car seats in the back seat of the vehicle. The girl died three days after the accident, according to police officials. more
Two workers were seriously injured in Lynbrook on Saturday when the pole they were both holding was blown into a power line, causing a severe shock to both men. According to Nassau County detectives, the men, who were working for Brook Window Cleaning, headquartered on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, were preparing to wash the windows at Bank of America, at 300 Merrick Road, using 
a telescoping washing pole. Nicholas Genovese 58, of Staten Island, and his co-worker, Alan Weinberg 64, of Long Beach, were standing on the ground, both holding the bottom of the pole. Weinberg was “footing” — or bracing — the pole while Genovese was walking it up the building when a gust of wind blew the pole into a nearby power line. Both men were thrown to the ground by the shock.

The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad are hoping to solve a 26-year-old mystery involving the disappearance of Kelly Morrissey, a Lynbrook girl who has been missing since June 1984. Morrissey, age 15 at the time of her disappearance, was mentioned in a discussion on a Facebook page recently, according to police. more
Famed Marine Sgt. William Bodette was welcomed at the airport and escorted by the Patriot Guard to the VFW in Lynbrook on Monday night, where members and residents stood to greet him. “I personally served with him from 1991 to 1994,” said Post Commander Pat Cardone. “He’s visiting New York, and we’d like to give him a warm welcome.” more
