All Nassau County parks and outdoor ice rinks would close at 4 p.m. on Monday and re-open when the weather allows, announced County Executive Ed Mangano. All regularly scheduled county events on Monday evening and throughout Tuesday are cancelled, according to a county news release. The county aquatic center in East Meadow and rifle range in Uniondale are also slated to close at 4 p.m. The Nassau County Correctional Center will stop visiting hours from noon on Monday and to Thursday morning. more

Andrew Cuomo announced a statewide Ebola plan on Oct. 16 that called for the coordination of health care, Port Authority and Metropolitan Transportation Authority workers to combat a potential spread of the Ebola virus should it cross New York’s borders. He also designated eight hospitals, including Long Island’s North Shore-LIJ, in Nassau County, and Stony Brook University Hospital, in Suffolk, to act as regional centers for treating patients with Ebola. more
Three years ago, a community outpatient clinic for veterans opened at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. The 11,000-square-foot space, in the hospital’s Building Q, offers primary care and mental health services. The hospital lends the space to the county rent-free. more

NuHealth, also known as the Nassau Health Care Corporation, incorporates the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale, and other family health centers. more
