Bellmore-Merrick District adds security, programming in budget

The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District will send a $159.8 million 2018-19 budget to voters on May 15, which includes a tax levy increase of 2.65 percent. The tax levy increase is gentler than the current year’s, which is 2.98 percent, according to Kate Freeman, the district’s assistant superintendent for business. more

The Bellmore-Merrick EMS fell victim to a $1.6 million fraud scandal that occurred from March 2008 through March 2015. Since then, however, the unit has recovered financially and made strides in improving its services and ability to serve the community.
