Merrick Fire Department volunteers were called to extinguish a car fire that engulfed a blue Audi that was parked at the Merrick Long Island Rail Road station in the middle of Wednesday afternoon. Black smoke billowed from the car and could be seen for blocks around. The blaze, though, was quickly contained, and it did not spread to surrounding vehicles.
