AvalonBay’s proposed 349-unit apartment complex in Rockville Centre, one of the few Nassau County areas with apartments, faced steep opposition from the community. The project was eventually approved. AvalonBay has built many complexes similar to this on Long Island, and includes some units of affordable housing in its developments.
