In any given year, crafting a school district budget that meets students’ needs while respecting the bottom line –– that is, residents’ property-tax bills –– is a headache. This year, you might say it’s a migraine headache.

Gov. Cuomo is the state’s top executive, elected by the people, so who’s supporting his plans? It’s the state’s public workers unions and the teachers’ union — they are suing the governor in court. Did anyone elect the unions to be in charge of the state’s pension and school systems?

By chance, I happened to notice that on Nov. 9, The Huffington Post reported that a potential Republican challenger to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a 2014 gubernatorial race, was defeated in his reelection bid for Erie County executive.
