A federal judge will wait an extra two weeks to sentence Dave Denenberg, a former Nassau County legislator from Merrick, for defrauding a legal client of $2.3 million. His sentencing was scheduled for May 22, but the judge granted a requested delay until June 5.

Dave Denenberg, the former Nassau County legislator from Merrick who resigned on Jan. 21, the same day he pleaded guilty to mail fraud in connection with swindling a law client of $2.3 million, co-founded a business two weeks later to advise clients about how to reduce their property taxes. A Merrick woman was sentenced today for stealing $456,000 from a Plainview building maintenance and real estate firm where she worked as a bookkeeper by forging her boss’s signature on checks made out to herself and by arranging automatic payments from company accounts to pay personal bills, according to District Attorney Kathleen Rice.

Dina Lohan, 51, of North Merrick, was sentenced by Nassau District Court Judge Andrew Engel on Tuesday to a conditional discharge, 100 hours of community service, driver’s license revocation, installation of an interlock device for one year, participation in a Drinking Driver Program and Victims Impact Panel, a fine of $2,600 and a $483 surcharge.
