Ambulances sat Thursday afternoon outside Camp Avenue School in North Merrick. A boiler in the school leaked "black smoke," according to the North Merrick School District. School officials called 911 "as a precaution," said North Merrick Superintendent David Feller.

Ambulances rushed one teacher and 14 students Thursday afternoon from Camp Avenue School in North Merrick to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Police were at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School on July 28 to investigate a trespassing case at the building. No property was damaged, and police are working to identify the trespassers, according to Dr. Dominick Palma, the Merrick School District superintendent.
