You mention bus fare hikes, but please let us know what the proposed hikes are. It is so insane that the roads and parking spots are so choked with cars, the City seems to be discouraging people from riding the buses. I don't think they've ever had an advertising campaign to encourage riding the buses. Bus routes and services have been cut over the years, with one absurd exception: The City added an overnight "drunk bus" route. They don't care about the commuters or shoppers, but want to make sure the out-of-town drinkers can spend their money all night in the bars. If they don't take the LIRR, this way they can get easy parking near the station, and get over the bridge before they kill anybody. Hence, "we have no DUI problem here in Long Beach."
