Rockville Centre Cadette Girl Scout Troop 860 ran a Food Drive for Island Harvest on Sept. 20 at King Kullen on Sunrise Highway. Long Island Rail Road commuters from Rockville Centre are invited to participate this September in a major food drive to help our many neighbors struggling through this deep recession. September is Hunger Action Month and Island Harvest is teaming up with the Long Island Rail Road and Long Island Cares in an effort to work together to end hunger. They’re asking residents to bring non-perishable food, personal care items, and/or school supplies to the Rockville Centre LIRR station each Wednesday in September. A food bins will be conveniently located and staffed by friendly volunteers. more
