Rockville Centre tax rate hits 20-year high
Village homeowners may see their tax rate rise by over 10 percent next year, mainly due to employee benefits and road repairs, according to RVC officials. Large police presence kept Rockville Centre from boiling over
"The parade was very orderly, and even the after-parade event at night in our downtown business district was orderly," said Police Commissioner Charles Gennario, who attributed the relative peace last Saturday to a heavy police presence that included 30 officers on foot and what he described as the "good cooperation" his department received from village bar owners. more

Rockville Centre St. Pat's parade set for Saturday
As it has for the last 13 years, the annual Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade will step off this Saturday, March 20 at noon from the corner of N. Long Beach Road and Maple Avenue. Over 110 different organizations will march this year, proceeding down Maple Avenue past Village Hall and ending at N. Village Avenue. more

It’s time to put a stop to political correctness
Representative Peter King got it right. Nidal Hasan, the 39-year-old Army major who killed 13 soldiers at Ford Hood and left many more injured, is a devoted Muslim of Jordanian and Palestinian decent. Witnesses at the scene said that before Hasan opened fire, he shouted, “Allahu Akbar!” Arabic for “God is great!” These are also the words shouted by suicide bombers before they attack and kill.
