Comedy Central presents...two from South Side High School Two of South Side High School’s illustrious graduates, four-time Emmy award winning writer Rory Albanese, who is the executive producer of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," and comedienne, actor and writer Amy Schumer, who was one of the Last Comics Standing, will appear on back-to-back half hour shows this Friday, April 2 on Comedy Central. Rory goes first — his show is at 11 p.m. — followed immediately by Amy who appears from 11:30 to midnight.

Bereavement conference on Sunday Lifelong Rockville Centre resident Elaine Stillwell, chapter leader of The Compassionate Friends of RVC and a bereavement coordinator for the Diocese of RVC, coordinates the annual conference. It will feature seven presenters from Rockville Centre — Fredi and Ron Norris, Elissa and Joe Metz, Julia Schuerger, Anne Kane and Father Andrzej Zglejszewski are scheduled to be among the over 500 bereaved and those caring for them who are expected to attend the annual Bereavement Conference this Saturday, March 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Kellenberg Memorial High School. Sponsored by Catholic Cemeteries and the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the conference is open to people of all faiths. The Keynote speaker will be Sr. Ave Clark, coordinator of the Heart-to-Heart Ministry who is a popular author, retreat presenter,spiritual director, and bereavement counselor. In addition, 61 workshops will be offered (registrants have a choice of three) by prominent leaders in the bereavement field.  Breakfast, lunch and conference folder are included in the registration fee ($70 for walk-ins).  A well-stocked Conference Bookstore will be available and the day will close with a Eucharistic Celebration.  The conference brochure and registration form may be downloaded from the Web site: www.holyroodcemetery.org  by clicking on the word Bereavement and on the right, scrolling down to Bereavement Conference Information. Beautiful music Under the musical direction of Scott Jackson Wiley, The South Shore Symphony will perform at South Side Middle School, 67 Hillside Road on March 20 at 8 p.m. The 65-member Symphony Orchestra will present Rossini ’s "Overture to William Tell," Richard Strauss ’s "Till Eulenspiegels Lustige Streiche" Op. 28 and Debussy ’s "La Mer." “Each one of the pieces on the program places great demands on the orchestra; together, they constitute a must-hear concert, a daring tour-de-force. This concert highlights the maturity and artistic strength of the South Shore Symphony,” said Scott Jackson Wiley. “Our community should be intensely proud of being able to support an orchestra of such virtuoso capability.” Organized in1984 and headed by President and Principal Cellist Wayne Lipton and Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, the orchestra has grown to include professional musicians and gifted high school musicians in addition to dedicated amateur players and has become one of the premiere performing ensembles of Long Island. The South Shore Symphony has enjoyed the constant support of Senator Dean Skelos, King Kullen Food Stores, various corporate entities and private individuals and the 400-plus dedicated members of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts. The orchestra has regularly performed in the Cathedral of St.Agnes, South Side High School and Middle School, Rockville Centre’s Mill River Park and last summer, at the Nassau County Museum of Art. Each year the symphony collaborates with Leggz Ltd.Dance and guest professionals in a fully-staged production of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker.” The cost for admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and members of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts.
