The 16th annual Rockville Centre St. Patrick's Parade will step off at 12 p.m. on March 24, starting from the corner of Maple Avenue and North Long Beach Road, proceeding down Maple Avenue past Village Hall and ending at North Village Avenue. It follows a commemorative Mass at St. Agnes Cathedral at 9 a.m.

The eighth annual Food and Wine Tasting, a fundraiser for the Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade, will take place this Friday, Jan. 27, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the St. Agnes Parish Center on North Village Avenue. To date, 31 local restaurants and businesses have agreed to donate food, wine and beer to the event.

The Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has chosen longtime Rockville Centre businesswoman Kathleen Alcock, the owner of Kathleen’s of Donegal at 10 North Park Ave., to be grand marshal of the event, scheduled for March 24. She is the first woman ever to be selected as to lead the parade, now in its 16th year.

The Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has chosen Long Island’s leading service provider for children and adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities, a Long Island provider of a “home-away-from-home” for the parents and siblings of hospitalized children and a national provider of service dogs for the severely disabled as the three charities it will financially support with the parade, scheduled for March 24.

The Rev. John D. McCarthy of St. Agnes Cathedral has been selected to lead this year’s Memorial Day Parade, set for Monday. The annual commemoration begins at 10 a.m. with a procession down Maple Avenue to Memorial Park, in front of the Recreation Center on Oceanside Road, where a service will begin at 11 a.m. Contingents representing the village police and fire departments, the schools and service and sports organizations will join the march and ceremony.
