3 to 5 inches of snow possible on Long Island; winter weather advisory issued

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for  for Monday night into Tuesday as the forecast has a wintry mix of rain sleet and the possibility for 3 to 5 inches of snow to fall. Temperatures  are expected  to range from 30 degrees to 39 degrees.  

Hazardous conditions could exist as roads become icy.

With winter weather hitting the area this morning in a rain/snow mix, NICE Bus (Nassau Inter-County Express) is advising riders there might be delays, detours or route cancellations early Tuesday, especially on the North Shore where more snow is forecast.
