City taps new animal rescue group to run shelter

After the group withdrew last year, local volunteers who had helped out took over shelter operations, city officials said, and the city honored them with a proclamation at last week’s council meeting.

“The shelter volunteers worked tirelessly to run the shelter and helped the city in doing so, and more importantly, helped the animals,” said Councilwoman Eileen Goggin. “Without these volunteers, we didn’t have anyone to run the shelter, and they spent hundreds of hours there.”
