Developers say there has been no lack of interest in the community, with a waiting list of more than 500 names. Despite that, Partrick explained, the age change was necessary to add more potential buyers, since many people are unable to make the move. “The biggest problem is the inability for people to sell their homes,” he said. “We’re in a very tough economy.”
Thomas added that a majority of the people expressing interest are residents of Valley Stream and neighboring communities. “They don’t want to leave the area,” she said, “but they don’t want the burden of a large home anymore.”
