Three ambulances belonging to First Response Ambulance, a private company based in Inwood, were ablaze on May 2, according to Inwood Fire Department officials
Inwood and the Lawrence-Cedarhurst fire departments responded to 455 Bayview Ave. near Sheridan Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. and extinguished the vehicle fires, according to Inwood department officials. No one was injured.
Nassau County Fire Marshal officials said the cause appears to have been an electrical fire that ignited on one of the ambulances and then spread to the other vehicles and five cars parked close by. The oxygen tanks in the ambulances exploded and blew the roofs off those vehicles, fire officials said.
