Gas odor shuts down part of Jerusalem Avenue

A section of Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore was temporarily closed because a “strong odor of gas” was detected in the area last week, authorities said.
Nassau County Police officials said part of Jerusalem Avenue, between Little Neck Avenue and Newbridge Road, was closed around 10 a.m. on April 2 and opened about 40 minutes later.
Police did not confirm where the smell came from or what caused it. North Bellmore Fire Department officials were also at the scene.
