Kennedy burglar gets prison time after he violates probation

Posted

The man whose John F. Kennedy High School break-in was allegedly covered up by three former members of the Nassau County Police Department was sentenced to one to three years in prison last week, officials said.

Chris Munzing, a spokesman for the Nassau County District Attorney's office, said Zachary Parker violated the terms of his probation by driving with a revoked license. The 20-year-old Merrick man was serving five years of probation after he pleaded guilty to stealing more than $10,000 worth of electronic equipment from his former school in Bellmore in 2009.

County Court Judge John Kase previously revoked Parker’s driver’s license for the duration of his probation. Munzing said records indicate that he drove at least four times and was involved in two accidents as recently as August. Kase handed down Parker’s prison sentence for the violations last Wednesday.

Marc Gann, Parker’s attorney, said he was hoping his client would receive less jail time so he could complete a drug-treatment program. He said Parker is facing marijuana possession and other drug-related charges.
