Mercy Medical Center to hold annual Christmas “Tree of Lights” celebration

The Council of Leagues of Mercy Medical Center has invited the community to the annual Christmas Tree of Lights celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.

The blessing and lighting of the Christmas tree will take place in front of the hospital and refreshments will be served afterward in the main lobby.

The lighting serves as an annual fundraiser and this year it will support the Sister Mary Grace Education Fund, which provides scholarships for students in financial need who are studying for health care careers.

Lights can be purchased for the Christmas tree in memory of a loved one, in celebration of an event or in honor of a special person. Remembrances will be recorded in a Tree of Lights book that will be displayed in the hospital's main lobby during the Christmas season.

A special mass will be held at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 8 for all those remembered in the Tree of Lights. To purchase a memorial light or for more information on the ceremony, please contact the League office at (516) 705-1833.
