Mercy Medical Center unveiled its new Outpatient Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine center on Aug. 5, expanding its physical medicine and rehabilitation department.

The facility boasts a full staff of physical and occupational therapists and speech language pathologists, who evaluate and treat physical disabilities ranging from difficulty walking to ataxia, and post-stroke rehabilitation and spasticity. A full array of exercise equipment, including treadmills, stair climbing machines and miniature trampolines, is available for patient use. The center is located in the lower level of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center building, toward the rear of the hospital’s campus.

“We are very excited to expand our renowned personalized and compassionate rehabilitation programs to offer ambulatory as well as inpatient services,” said Aaron E. Glatt, MD., Mercy’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Celebrating its centennial this year, Mercy is ranked among the top hospitals in New York, and has received commendations from such institutions as the U.S. News & World Report, the American College of Radiology and the American Heart Association.
