Obituary: Frank Marino, 98

Former Oceanside Kiwanis President Frank Marino died on Dec. 25. He was 98.

Marino was born in Brooklyn on June 12, 1917 to parents Joseph and Geni Marino. He served as an army Sergeant in World War II from 1940 to 1944. He retired as a Manager from John Hancock Insurance in 1982, and then worked at Crisona Financial Group.

Marino was a member of Kiwanis for 47 years, serving as president of Oceanside Kiwanis from 1978 to 1979 and Treasurer of Long Island Southwest Division from 1982 to 2001. He earned the Walter Zeller Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus of Oceanside, and the UNICO chapter of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years Louise Marino née Fasullo, and his brother Joseph Marino.

He is survived by his brother Carl Marino of Denver, Colorado; children Janice (Richard) Kish of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Gary (Ellie) Marino of Mount Sinai, New York; grandchildren Sarah and Paul Kish, Michael and Gina Marino.

A funeral mass was held on Dec. 30 at St. Louis DeMonfort Catholic Church in Sound Beach, New York, followed by burial at the Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Allentown Northeast Treasurer at 942 E. Tilghman St., Allentown, PA, 18102.
