School bus catches fire in Wantagh

SCHOOL BUS FIRE IN WANTAGH Photo(s) by Jack Healy The Wantagh FD under the command of 2nd Asst Chief Joe Gross responded to a mini-school bus fire on July 11, 2014 at the intersection of Wilmart Place and Jones Avenue. The bus was fully engulfed in fire upon the arrival of the fire units and the bus driver and any occupants had exited the vehicle safely. Units from Wantagh FD Engine 691 extinguished the fire using water from it reserve water tank. This incident also coincided with the launching of Engine 691

A minibus went up in flames near the intersection of Wilmart Place and Jones Avenue Friday morning, but everyone was evacuated before the fire broke out, officials said.

The Wantagh Fire Department, under the command of Second Assistant Chief Joe Gross responded at around 9:45 a.m. Friday. The bus was fully engulfed in fire upon the arrival of the fire units and the bus driver and any occupants had exited the vehicle safely.

Units from Wantagh Fire Department’s Engine 691 extinguished the fire using water from it reserve water tank. Nobody was injured and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
