Seniors take advantage of Golden Gathering

Seniors came out to a Golden Gathering at the Freeport Recreation Center last Thursday. The event, hosted by New York State Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr. of Merrick, presented seniors with the opportunity to take advantage of many health programs and services.

More than 100 exhibitors were on hand to answer questions about health and nutrition, public safety and insurance. Attendees received free flu and pneumonia vaccinations from NuHealth. Other services available included free blood pressure, chiropractic, vision and hearing screenings, as well as the chance to renew or obtain a passport. And seniors could dispose of expired or unwanted medications safely and speak one on one with a pharmacist to learn how different medications interact with one another.
