Knights host basketball contest in Valley Stream
Basketball shooters from Valley Stream, Floral Park and Hewlett squared off in the second round of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship last Saturday morning at Holy Name of Mary School. Winners from the first round in their local chapter competition last month took to the three-point line again.
This time, it was best out of 25 shots to move on to the next round. After about a half-hour of warmers, participants were called up one-by-one to take aim at the basket. Competitors came from the Father Thomas F.B. Carroll Council in Valley Stream, the St. Mary’s Council in Hewlett and the Floral Park Council.
The winners will now move on to the third round of competition on March 19 at St. Dominick’s High School in Oyster Bay.
