Symphony to perform at South Side Middle School

The South Shore Symphony Orchestra will be in concert at South Side Middle School, 67 Hillside Ave., on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The 65-member orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, featuring Karol Ishizeki, and Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in B flat (“Spring”).

Ishizeki is one of the most active and versatile pianists on the New York music scene, appearing frequently as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist in venues as diverse as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, C.W. Post University, Columbia University, New York University, the New York Opera Studio and Regina Opera. 

Ishizeki recently had her local debut with the Centre Symphony Orchestra of New York. She performs Beethoven’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 4 with the South Shore Symphony at the express invitation of its Music Director and Conductor Scott Jackson Wiley.

The South Shore Symphony Orchestra includes professional musicians and gifted high school musicians in addition to dedicated amateur players.  Tickets are available at the door and are $15 for adults,
